Euchre is played with 4 players, with players on opposite sides of the table
being partners.
Round 1: Dealer flips up a card. You can "order him up", or pass. If you
order him up, you have "called trump", and you have to take 3 tricks
(at least). If you don't take 3 tricks, you get euchred.
If you order up the dealer, he gets to pick up the flipped card and throw
out his worst card. The suit of the card that gets ordered up is "trump".
Round 2: If noone orders it up, you go around again and you get to call
trump (it can't be the suit that was flipped). Again, if you call trump
you have to get 3 tricks or you get euchred.
If noone orders it up or calls trump, the deal passes to the next player.
If you order it up or call trump, you can go alone. If you go alone and
take all 5 tricks, you get 4 points.
Playing cards: you must follow suit. If you can't follow suit, then you
can play a trump card (if you have one). Trump cards beat normal cards.
Bowers: the highest card is the "right" - the right bower. That is the
Jack of the trump suit. The second highest card is the "left" - the left
bower. That is the Jack of the other suit of the same color.
Card Rankings:
Highest: Right Bower (Jack of Trump Suit)
Left Bower (Jack, same color of Trump Suit)
Trump Ace
Trump King
Trump Queen
Trump Ten
Trump 9
Non-trump Ace
Non-trump King
Non-trump Queen
Non-bower Jack
Non-trump Ten

Example: say Hearts is trump. The best card is the Jack of Hearts. The
Second best card is the Jack of Diamonds. Then Ace of Hearts, and so on.
